[ARCHIVED] Douglas County Gas Main Break Update

Douglasville, Georgia – As of 9:40 p.m. Douglas County Firefighters were released from the scene of a gas main break on Post Rd near Dog River Bridge after Atlanta Gas & Light Company capped the gas leak.

Residents are now being allowed to return to their residences.  Gas has been shut off as repairs continue to be made.  All safety measures are being mitigated between Atlanta Gas & Light and the fire department.

Earlier in the day, Douglas County Firefighters were dispatched to the scene at 3:32 p.m. where a 6-inch gas main pipe was ruptured by an excavator forcing multiple homes to be evacuated out of an abundance of caution.
