Douglasville, Georgia – Dr. Romona Jackson Jones, Chairman of the Douglas County Board of Commissioners, and the Board of Commissioners will honor the dream and unified vision of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr by distributing 100 miniature planting trees to the public on Friday January 14, 2022 at the Douglas County Courthouse. 8700 Hospital Drive, Douglasville, Georgia 30134.
Trees are available on a first come first serve basis and can be obtained in the front entrance lobby area of Courthouse from 11:30 am-1:30pm. This tree planting initiative honoring MLK Day marks the third time Douglas County has done this. The event is being coordinated by Keep Douglas County Beautiful.
"Planting trees helps our community by reducing energy bills, increasing property values, and assisting with cleaning the air and water,” said Keep Douglas County Beautiful Coordinator, Tabrieah Cobb.
“This tree planning initiative honoring MLK Day in Douglas County is being hosted by the External Affairs/Keep Douglas County Beautiful Departments under the leadership of Director Tiffany Stewart Stanley,” said Chairman Jones.
