[ARCHIVED] Douglas County Chair & BOC Remember Former Cobb County Chairman

Douglas County, GA – Our deepest, heartfelt sympathies and condolences go out to his wife Judy and the entire Boyce family.  Former Cobb Commission Chairman, Mike Boyce, passed away yesterday at the age of 72.  Douglas County Commission Chair Dr. Romona Jackson Jones and Mr. Boyce both served on the Atlanta Regional Commission Board of Directors together.

“Mike served 30 years as an active Marine and I served in the U.S. Army,” Chairwoman Dr. Romona Jackson Jones said. “Even though we were of different political parties, we shared similar vision and values when running county governments and he truly will be missed.”

Boyce attended the historic launch of Douglas County’s Connect Douglas Transportation System.  Connect Douglas serves as Douglas County’s first ever intra-county bus system that included “regional” route design connecting through Cobb County.  “We needed Mike’s signature to authorize our connection for citizens to connect to Cobb Linc and Mike signed it without hesitation,” Chairwoman Jones said.  “My fondest memory of Mike is when he came to support Douglas County’s launch of Connect Douglas. Mike’s smile added a ray of sunshine on that day.”

 Funeral arrangements are still pending.
