Chairwoman Romona Jackson Jones Orders Flags Lowered to Half-Staff in Memory of the 1,000,000 Americans Who Have Died From COVID-19

 

Douglas County, GA – Douglas County Commission Chair Dr. Romona Jackson Jones ordered all flags at the courthouse recently to be flown at half-staff until sunset, May 16, in memory of the nearly 1 000,000 Americans who have lost their lives due to COVID-19.  

 

“Every life lost to COVID-19 is a life worth remembering,” said Commission Chair Jones. “This virus that struck us globally is a tragedy that has affected too many families, friends, and loved ones. My daughter Shannon and I are keeping everyone affected in Douglas County who may have lost someone to this treaded disease in our hearts.

 

The President of the United States, Joseph Biden, issued an Executive Order requesting the lowering of the U.S. flags to half-staff on all county government buildings until sunset on May 16th, 2022. The full Presidential Proclamation is available on the White House website.
