Douglas County Fire Chief Roderick Jolivette Delivers Keynote Speech

Douglas County, GA - The Georgia Fire Academy Class 2022 graduated from the Basic Firefighter Training Course at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center on Friday, May 20, 2022.

Douglas County Fire Chief Roderick Jolivette delivered inspirational remarks to the recruits with the “Everyone Goes Home” message theme.

“I am always humbled and thankful for the opportunity to speak to the graduates of the Georgia Fire Academy,” said Jolivette. “During my speech, I specifically asked that they remember those three words because “Everyone Goes Home” reminds us of the dangers firefighters face every day to protect lives and property.”

Jolivette added the theme also reminds firefighters of the importance of making sure everyone remains safe to make it home to their families.

In March 2004, sixteen initiatives and programs were created to prevent firefighter line‑of‑duty deaths and injuries during a Firefighter Life Safety Summit. The goal is to help the U.S. Fire Administration reduce the number of preventable firefighter fatalities and ensure everyone goes home.
