Douglas County Examines Short-Term Rental Compliance with Homeowners
Douglas County, GA - The Douglas County Planning and Zoning Department is beginning a Short Term Rental Regulations push to ensure homeowners follow county short-term rental regulations.
Short-term rental properties are houses, portions of homes, or accessory buildings advertised as lodging for rent for less than 30 days.
“With this initiative, Douglas County is focused on protecting the public interest of all parties,” according to Allison Duncan, Douglas County Planning and Zoning Manager. “We want to protect the investment of owners operating a short-term rental property by requiring compliance with all required codes and regulations,” Duncan added. “We want the traveling public to know that their lodging is safe and properly regulated. And we want to create transparency so that the community is aware that they will have transient populations moving through their neighborhood.”
Douglas County has contracted with a third party to identify properties advertised on various platforms as short-term rental units. For more information, contact the Douglas County Planning and Zoning Department at 770-920-7241.
