Lee Road Groundbreaking -3

Douglas County Commission Chair & Board of Commissioners Invite you to Lee Road Widening Groundbreaking Ceremony

The Douglas County Board of Commissioners is celebrating Phase One of the Lee Road Widening Project with a groundbreaking ceremony and is inviting the public to attend.

Who:

Douglas County Commission Chair & Board of Commissioners

What:

Lee Road Widening Groundbreaking Ceremony

When:

Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at 2:00 p.m.

Where:

Southeast corner of Lee Road and Old Chestnut Log Road intersection, Lithia Springs

Why:

During its August 31, 2021, legislative voting meeting, Commissioners voted unanimously to approve a funding agreement with the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) to manage the construction of the widely anticipated project.

The $14.3 million federally funded project encompasses a 2.5-mile stretch of roadway from I-20 to Fairburn, which will be widened from two to four lanes and include a raised median.  The construction phase is expected to take two years to complete and will require full-time inspections and project management. The project must adhere to federal guidelines for inspections, field testing, and environmental controls. The County retained Southeastern Engineers, Incorporated, to provide the required field services.
