Douglas County Facing Water Pipes Bursting Problems

Douglas County Officials are asking motorists to please avoid the intersection of Highway 5 & Douglas Blvd, in Douglasville, GA, because of the busted water pipes to a nearby office building, causing the intersection to flood.

Douglas County currently is facing freezing temperatures, and, in some areas, the temperatures are lowering to single digits. “Gridlock traffic is facing many of our streets on Christmas Eve, and we are hoping motorists avoid the intersection of Highway 5 & Douglas Blvd into the evening,” said Rick Martin, Fire & EMS Public Information Director. “We received many 911 calls from all over the county today because of broken water pipes and flooding as a result.” Residential homeowners are encouraged to find out where the main shut-off valves are to their homes. One valve is near the street, and another is typically located near the water heater or under the kitchen sink, but anywhere in the house is possible.
