DOUGLAS COUNTY TO START CITIZEN'S ACADEMY PROGRAM YEAR

DOUGLASVILLE, GEORGIA, February 14, 2023—Citizen's Academy is a Douglas County Board of Commissioners initiative that seeks to educate and inform Douglas County inhabitants of the various functions of the Douglas County government. It will begin on March 14 and consist of seven consecutive weekly sessions.

This program was created to bridge the understanding gap and give everyone interested in Douglas County a chance to interact better with their government. This program is dedicated to educating citizens about the importance of being actively conscious of their local governmental environment and the opportunities available in the public sector.

Citizen's Academy administers information and resources to residents and business owners so they can become knowledgeable community members and influential neighborhood leaders. The Academy provides civic education by exposing citizens to the local government's role in their lives and introducing them to the leaders who make our local government prosper. Each session will be an interactive meeting with various individuals who specialize in multiple areas of governmental affairs.

This program is for anyone eighteen and older who resides or has a business in Douglas County. Each session will be about an hour and a half on Tuesday evenings except for one Saturday meeting. Applications go live at noon on February 14, 2023.
