(Douglasville, Georgia) – The 21st annual ‘September Saturdays’ festival, hosted by Douglas County Government in partnership with presenting sponsors Georgia’s Own Credit Union and Truist Bank will be held on September 23rd and 30th on the grounds of the Douglas County Courthouse. More than 100 vendors and exhibitors are scheduled to participate as organizers prepare to welcome thousands of attendees over two weekends to Douglas County’s largest festival.

Each Saturday will feature a theme highlighting local heroes and family-centric resources and opportunities.

Saturday, September 23rd:  Heroes Day & Touch -A-Truck Experience
‘Heroes Day’ honors everyday heroes from the Douglas County Fire & EMS Department, 911 Operators, Sheriff’s Office and Police Department, military, veterans, and teachers. The Touch-A-Truck Experience provides an opportunity for the young and the young-at-heart to engage with first responders and get an up-close view of fire trucks and military equipment, along with law enforcement and government service vehicles.

Saturday, September 30th: Family Fun Day, & County Services Showcase

‘Family Fun Day’ will include games and activities for the family and provide employment resource booths from local businesses and industries for job seekers. The Douglas County School System will also present its ‘Teacher of the Year’ Award to a deserving educator.

Both days will feature a ‘Community Marketplace’, where individuals, businesses, churches, and community organizations will host booths and showcase their wares in addition to providing information and resources.

New to ‘September Saturdays’ this year, a festival ‘Food Court’ featuring 15 different restaurants/food trucks and a seated eating area. There will also be a children’s play area with free inflatable games and slides, carnival and train rides, a rock-climbing wall, and more.

Local artists, such as ‘The Outfield Clovers’, ‘Jashun’, and ‘McKeith Cordell’ will be performing on the Truist Stage area of the Courthouse steps.  There will also be performances from students representing schools throughout Douglas County.

September Saturdays is a Douglas County tradition and a great opportunity to showcase our talent, artists, and businesses,” said Wendy Caudle, Constituent Services Manager, whose department is organizing the event.  “All of our performers are Douglas County residents and include local bands, dancers, singers, school choirs and bands and, of course, our local retail vendors and community groups will be there. Come on out this Saturday and bring the family!”

Admission to the festival and its features are free due to the support of community-focused

businesses that sponsor the event, including Greystone, Troy University, John Thornton Chevrolet, West Georgia Technical College, and University of West Georgia, in addition to this year’s presenting sponsors.
